Spilling the beautea with Maria

Sometimes, it really amazes me how life works. When we were all on lockdown last year, I started dealing with a lot of anxiety - to be honest, how do you put a generation that's so used to being on the move, to literally just stay still until the world is opened again?

So, for fun, I was "googling" tips on how to deal with anxiety until I stumbled upon this meditation center's website. I felt like I hit the jackpot when I found out that this center was actually based where I live! So, to try my luck, I asked for a 30 minute 1 to 1 session with someone that the center would select for me, and they introduced me to Maria.

So, for awhile, I started attending almost all of her meditation group classes, and I even took a course so I can train on myself and the people around me. Needless to say, everything she would say and teach us would encourage me to become a better version of myself.

I think it's very hard to find people who genuinely want to see you shine, especially in your own way! But, this is what she does, she wants to see you become the best version of yourself, while remaining independent. I can just summarize with my own experience that she didn't make me do anything, she just guided me towards what works best for me.

She is really someone I look up to, and I'm very grateful to call her my friend.

So, as someone who I admired, I knew I had to spill the beautea with her. Here it is:

What does self care mean to you? What’s the area that you focus on the most?

Self care for me is taking care of my energy and mind. When my energy is balanced and aligned, and my mind is at peace, I can accomplish anything.

Beauty related question: what is the one thing that you can never go on without?

Cleansing face gel. I can't not wash my face in the morning and before going to bed. A clean refreshed skin is the 1st most important step before anything else in my skin care routine.

Health related question: what’s your morning routine to start a good day?

Water: shower and drink 500ml of water, then a 10 min energy meditation with some breathwork exercises.

How do you end your night on a good note? What’s your nighttime routine?

Another round of meditation, energy cleansing with shower and life scripting techniques. A good set of affirmations to write or read is my favourite too.

Regarding self-care, beauty, and health - what would you have told your younger self?

Don't overuse harsh chemical products. I am now so much more aware of what is in my products' ingredients. Also cruelty free is something I was completely uneducated on, which has shifted my perspective on what to use.
